Carowinds, the local amusement park, originally opened in 1973 and this weekend they’ll celebrate with a recreation of the grand opening events. Expect a visit from Miss North Carolina of 1973, marching bands, #1 hits from ’73 and a firework show at the end of the night. In addition, V101.9 WBAV FM is hosting an “Old School” party from 6-10 p.m. with the radio crew, Purple Steppers Step Show, dance Contests, live broadcast and DJ Incognito. Twilight tickets can be purchased for $26.99 for those interested in attending the party and entering the park during the evening only.
