Respect Da Mic poetry slam (cash prizes)

Respect Da Mic will kick off Black History Month with a slam competition at the Harvey B. Gantt Center. You can sign up to compete by February 1 or attend the competition on February 9 at 2 p.m. Each performer has a three minute and ten second slot with three rounds of competition. The competition will consist of judges, $365 in cash prizes and a good time. See the breakdown of prizes below. Remember to sign up by February 1 and pay your $15 registration fee if you’re interested. Procrastination is not your friend this go round because there is no sign-up during the day of the event. Tickets are$7 in advance and $10 at the door.

1st place -$200

2nd place -$75

3rd place -$50

4th place -$40
