All freelance and aspiring writers are invited to attend the Charlotte Arts Journalism Conference put on by the Charlotte Arts Journalism Alliance (CAJA). The conference is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the UNC Charlotte Center City Building and covers a variety of topics such as reviewing performing arts, writing for radio, trends in the arts and even ethics. Participants will attend solo presentations, panel discussions and breakout sessions. There is an opportunity for networking and pitching your story ideas to editors. The cost to attend is $35 for the general public and $15 for students. Learn more and register here.
CAJA was created to broaden awareness of the region’s cultural landscape and to deepen community discussions about the arts by focusing on three key goals:
1. Increasing the quantity of arts reporting in the Charlotte area
2. Improving the quality of local arts reporting
3. Expanding access to great arts journalism
