Sphinx Virtuosi

A rare youth classical music program makes their way to Charlotte. Sphinx Virtuosi is a chamber orchestra made up of alumni from the Sphinx Competition for young Black and Latino string players. The Detroit, Michigan based program is world renowned and tagged “first rate in every way” by The New York Times. They will perform pieces by Piazzolla’s Four Seasons and music by Villa-Lobos. The event is co-sponsored by the Arts & Science Council as it  celebrate its 2012 ASC Honors recipients for lifetime achievement in the arts, sciences and history. Tickets are FREE but you must reserve them in advance. Knight Theater at Levine Center for the Arts at 430 South Tryon St. 7:30 p.m. Details.
